Insadong & Changdeokgung

Changdeokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace, Jongmyo Shrine and the gallery lanes of Insadong are all here. Routes around the Changdeokgung halls and through Jongmyo Shrine are mostly flat, but some stone paving needs care. Bukchon Hanok Village sits on a hill with many slopes, so it is not recommended if walking is hard.

The ground

These notes come from public data and online sources.

Insadong-gil
You can enter Insa-dong without a step, and the street runs a little over 1 km. One travel guide says some stone-paved paths are hard to use by wheelchair. Two travel guides say weekends are busier, so try a weekday if you need room to move.
Palace grounds
Routes around the Changdeokgung halls are mostly flat, but the grounds have stone paths, dirt paths and hills. Huwon Garden has steep hills that can be dangerous. Changgyeonggung has ramps and some uneven stone paving.
Jongmyo Shrine
A marked route for wheelchairs loops between the halls on mostly flat earth paths. Some hall areas are hard to reach, and some stone paving needs care.
Bukchon
The way from Jeongdok Public Library toward Samcheong-dong Street is flat by wheelchair. A companion is advised on the slopes at Views 3 to 6. For a gentler walk, Ssamzigil has a long, gentle ramp past its shops and an elevator.
Slopes to watch
Ramps around the Jogyesa Temple grounds are fairly steep. At Seoul Museum of Craft Art, take care on the slope between Exhibition Buildings 1 and 3.
