Seoul City Wall Museum

Wheelchair users and people who find walking hard can visit, with limits: the way up is a fairly steep hill, and the elevator is a little tight for power wheelchairs. The Seoul City Wall Museum (한양도성박물관) is a branch of the Seoul Museum of History, inside Heunginjimun Park (흥인지문공원).

Wheelchair
Partly accessibleThe main entrance has no step, and there is an elevator on floors 1 to 3. A manual wheelchair needs a helper on the hill, and the elevator is a little tight for power wheelchairs.
Walking load
MediumThe way up is fairly steep, but there is a step-free way in from the top parking lot. Indoors, an elevator serves floors 1 to 3, and a visit takes about 20 to 40 minutes.

Heads-up

If a Monday is a public holiday, the museum is open (as of October 2026).

Hours can change for internal reasons. Call 02-724-0243 (+82-2-724-0243 from abroad) before you go. Whether staff can answer in English is not known.

Getting in

Finding it
The museum is on floors 1 to 3 of the Seoul Design Support Center (서울디자인지원센터), 283 Yulgok-ro. The big sign outside may read "Seoul Design Foundation", so look for the museum name on the side wall or banner.
Approach
The way up to the building is a fairly steep hill, so manual wheelchair users need a helper. You can also enter without steps from the top parking lot, using an elevator.
Entrance
The main entrance is wide and flat, with no step or slope.
Route
The official route starts at Dongdaemun Station Exit 1 or 10. Neither exit has a street elevator.
Parking
Parking holds about 29 small cars and costs 400 won per 5 minutes, up to 45,000 won a day, as of October 2026. Take public transport if you can, because space is tight. The accessible parking area is a little narrow, and its markings are not clear.

Inside

Elevator
There is an elevator on floors 1, 2 and 3. It is comfortable for manual wheelchairs but a little tight for power wheelchairs, and its doorway is narrow.
Floors
Floor 1 has the lobby, information desk and Permanent Exhibition Hall 1. Floor 2 has the special exhibition hall, reference room, study room and lockers. Floor 3 has Permanent Exhibition Halls 2 and 3.
Toilets
Accessible toilets are on floors 1 and 2. Floor 3 does not appear to have a toilet, so use one before you go up. One accessible toilet may have enough room inside, but it may be a little hard to use in some ways. It is not known which ones.
Rest
You cannot eat packed lunches inside. You can eat or rest in Heunginjimun Park outside, except on rainy days or when large groups are there.
