Getting in
- Entrance
- Part of the approach to the main gate, Oedaemun (외대문), is a gentle ramp, but getting in can be slightly difficult. The ground is large paving stones, so go carefully. No handrail is visible in the part of the wooden ramp shown in the photo. The gate passage appears flat.
- Route
- From Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station, Exit 11 or Exit 8 is about a 5-minute walk.
- Parking
- Jongmyo has no parking of its own. Use the paid Jongmyo Public Parking Lot (종묘 공영주차장), run by the Jongno-gu Office. It has accessible spaces, and the elevator to the lot is easy to use.
- Timed entry
- On Monday, Thursday and Friday, you enter at a set time and move with a guide for about 50 minutes. English entry is at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 as of October 2026. Each entry has 200 places, 100 online and 100 in person.
- General entry
- Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and Wednesday are general admission days. These days may suit you better if you need more time. In December 2024 information, Wednesday is a timed-entry day. Call +82-2-765-0195 (02-765-0195 inside Korea) to ask which applies.
Inside
- Marked route
- Follow the red line on the official map, which is the route for wheelchairs and strollers. It loops from Oedaemun past Jaegung (재궁) and Jeonsacheong (전사청), along the northeast wall to Yeongnyeongjeon (영녕전), then back on the west path.
- Paths
- Paths are mostly flat earth, with ramps in places. Some sections are stone paving, so take care by wheelchair or stroller. The stones may be uneven, with gaps between them.
- Halls
- The halls have ramps, but some sections are hard to reach. Some hall platforms may have steps in front. In older information from 2021, some ramps were steep, and help was advised for manual wheelchair users.
- Toilets
- Accessible toilets are near Jaegung, Yeongnyeongjeon and Jeonsacheong. Sources differ on the exact spots: December 2024 information gives Yeongnyeongjeon and the pond. Call +82-2-765-0195 (02-765-0195 inside Korea) to ask where they are. There is room inside for a power wheelchair, but parts may be hard to use. There is no family toilet.
- Wheelchairs
- You can borrow wheelchairs and strollers at the visitor information booth near Oedaemun. There is also a ticket window for wheelchair users.
