Food queues often block the narrow alleys, and one visitor says weekends are especially busy. Try a weekday if you can.
The market and vintage section close on Sunday. The food alley stays open daily, but individual stalls may differ.
Getting in
- Route
- The market's directions use Exit 8 of Jongno 5-ga Station (Line 1) or Exit 4 of Euljiro 4-ga Station (Lines 2 and 5). These are general walking directions and do not mean those exits have elevators.
- Entrance
- The way to the main entrance and the entrance itself have no steps. South Gate 1, on the Cheonggyecheon side, is the entrance by the food stalls.
- Parking
- The market sends drivers to the Jongmyo Public Parking Lot (종묘 공영주차장) in Jongno 4-ga. It has accessible spaces; ask at the lot whether you can use them.
Inside
- Paths
- Alleys are narrow, and food queues often block the way. One visitor described the main passages as accessible but some inner food alleys as hard to move through.
- Floors
- Imported vintage clothing shops are on the second floor. A 2017 report said wheelchair visits stayed on the first floor because there was no elevator. Access to upper floors now is not known.
- Toilets
- Accessible toilets are at the South Gate 1 rest stop (나들이 쉼터) and on the first floor of the central public toilet, which may be the same place.
- Rest area
- The first floor of the central public toilet has a rest area. The other toilets there are up steep stairs on the second and third floors.
- Seating
- One visitor described simple benches at long food-stall counters, with little room around them. One wheelchair traveler wrote in 2017 that not every stall had space, but vendors often moved tables and chairs.
