Heads-up

If a Monday is a public holiday, the museum opens that day and closes on the next weekday instead.

The museum website is down for maintenance as of October 2026. Sources differ on the dates. Use Naver booking instead. This notice is about the website, not a museum closure.

Getting in

Entrance
A ramp leads to the main entrance, which has an automatic door and no step. You cannot enter by the rear door, so go around to the front.
Slope
The slope at the main entrance is steep and long. It can be hard for some wheelchair users going alone, so come with someone who can help.
Route
Directions start at Seodaemun Station Exit 4, with about 5 minutes uphill after the vehicle barrier. Sources differ on the walk: about 10 minutes, or 16 minutes with a steep climb. Exit 4 has no street elevator.
Parking
Two accessible parking spaces are near the main entrance. The lot gets tight when the museum is busy. One travel guide says parking was free as of April 2025.
Entry
General admission is free, and you can walk in without booking, as of October 2026. You can book guided exhibition talks through Naver Booking (네이버 예약).

Inside

Lift
There is no elevator. Wheelchair users take a lift to the second floor, which also has exhibits, and parts of using it can be awkward. It appears to be an enclosed cabin with a door you open by hand and a 300 kg load limit.
Toilets
One accessible toilet is on the 1st floor, across from the information desk. It has a sliding door and an emergency call bell, but it is a bit narrow for wheelchair users. Grab bars appear to be on both sides.
Rest area
Take a break at the 100-Year Rest Area (100년 쉼터). It has big windows facing the seasonal observation trees and seats with weather materials.
Help
Wheelchair rental is available, and staff can go with you if you ask. Ask at the information desk about fees and ID rules.
