Getting in

Entrance
You can reach the main entrance by wheelchair and go in with no step.
Route
Older information: cross at the crosswalk from the Hoehyeon elevator exit and enter at Gate 5. Sources differ on which exit has the elevator. Ask station staff which exit to use. From Seoul Station on the high-speed rail, it is a 5-minute walk to Namdaemun.
Parking
Car parks are at or near Gates 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8. There are also car parks at the Coco and Mesa buildings and the Shinsegae Department Store annex.

Inside

Paths
Old asphalt walkways were relaid in stone in 2026, and small breaks in existing stone sections were repaired. The work made the walk easier for people with suitcases and strollers.
Alleys
Older information: Kalguksu Alley (칼국수골목) has no step but is too narrow to enter easily. Many restaurants in Galchi-jorim Alley (갈치조림골목) have steps. Step heights vary, and a companion can help you into some of them.
Crowds
About 300,000 people visit on an average day, so crowded alleys are likely. Since October 24, 2026, cars and motorcycles are banned from marked market streets daily from 12:00 to 18:00. The end date is not known.
Toilets
An accessible toilet is recorded for the market, but its exact location is not known. It is also not known whether you can use it by wheelchair. Older information points to the open toilet at Namdaemun Police Box, 28-16 Namdaemunsijang 4-gil. Sources differ on which toilet at that address is accessible. Ask at a market information booth which one to use.
Rest
You can sit on benches in the plaza in front of Sungnyemun. G-dong Daedo Arcade has a customer lounge and nursing room on B1. Elevator access to B1 is not known.

Hours
Hours and closed days vary by shop, as of October 2026. Older information from 2016 shows some women's clothing arcades running overnight, so they may be closed by day. Check the hours of any shop you want to visit.
Wayfinding
Overview maps stand at 4 key entry points to the market. Information booths are in front of Cheongja Arcade at Gate 5 and the Samho Accessory building at Gate 3.
Visitor lounge
A lounge for foreign visitors is on the 3rd floor of Dongwoo Building, in the Gate 2 alley. It offers market information, luggage storage, Wi-Fi and free hanbok try-on. As of October 2026, it opens at 10:00 and closes at 17:00 or 19:00. It closes for Seollal and Chuseok. Elevator access is not known.
Service dogs
You can bring a service dog.
