Heads-up

On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, the museum stays open until 21:00, but Daehanmun Gate stops admitting visitors at 20:00. Enter the palace before 20:00.

The exhibition you want may be partly on the third floor. Before you go, call 02-2022-0600 (+82-2-2022-0600) and ask which floors it uses.

Both wheelchair routes rely on staff help. Keep 02-2022-0640 (+82-2-2022-0640) handy; in photos, this number is on the lift door and help bell signs.

Getting in

Entrance
The front entrance has 23 steep steps up to the second floor and no ramp. The path to the building has no steps, and you can reach a side entrance without steps. Wheelchair users should take one of the two routes below.
Lift route
Follow the ramp on the right side of the museum to the office. Press the bell to the left of the office door, and staff will help you use the wheelchair lift to the galleries. In photos, the door has a lift notice; one photo also has a staff-only sign beside it.
Elevator route
Take the accessible elevator behind Seokjojeon (석조전) to the second floor, then cross the link passage to the galleries. In front of the passage, call 02-2022-0640 (+82-2-2022-0640) for help.
Route
For wheelchair access, the route starts at City Hall Station Exit 2 (Line 1) and goes through Daehanmun Gate (대한문), the palace main gate. Allow about 10–15 minutes from the station to the museum, on foot or by wheelchair. Other directions use Exit 1. For street elevators at the station, see Getting there.
Parking
The museum has no parking of its own, and you cannot park inside the palace. Accessible parking spaces are nearby at Seoul Museum of Art and at the on-street public lot beside the British Embassy.

Inside

Floors
There is no elevator inside. 26 steep stairs lead from the second floor to the third, and no step-free route is known. In older information from January 2023, Galleries 1 and 2 are on the second floor, and Galleries 3 and 4 are on the third.
Toilets
The accessible toilet is on the first floor of the museum office, with an automatic door, handrails and a help bell. Ask gallery staff to guide you there. Some sources place it in the palace grounds, not the museum building. Before you visit, call 02-2022-0640 (+82-2-2022-0640) and ask which toilet to use.
Seating
Chairs stand around the second-floor galleries, as of December 2024. A rest area is on the third floor, up the stairs.
Wheelchair loan
You can borrow one of two manual wheelchairs at the second-floor information desk.
