Heads-up
People with no membership cannot enter the library on their own. If nobody in your group is a Hyundai Card or DIVE app member, plan on the 1st-floor café, which is open to everyone.
The library holds 30 people at a time. When it is full, you wait to go in.
The building is closed every Monday and during the Seollal and Chuseok holidays.
Getting in
- Entrance
- The door is automatic. The ground at the entrance slopes (older information). One visitor wrote of following a slope, so the way in may be sloped.
- Café entry
- Anyone can enter the 1st-floor café. You do not need a Hyundai Card, and there is no age limit.
- Library entry
- The 2nd-floor library is for Hyundai Card members and their guests. A member can bring 2 guests, up to 8 times a month. Anonymous corporate cards and Gift cards do not count. Everyone must be 19 or older and show ID, including guests.
- DIVE app
- A DIVE app member can enter the library without a Hyundai Card, up to 8 times a month across the libraries. This includes weekends and public holidays, as of October 2026. Sources differ on whether DIVE app members can enter on weekends. Call 02-331-6300 (+82-2-331-6300 from abroad) or email musiclibrary@hcs.com to ask. The app has some English screens.
- Parking
- There is no parking or valet service. Use a nearby public car park.
Inside
- Elevator
- The building has an elevator. Which floors it stops at is not known. If you are coming for the 2nd-floor library, call or email before you go.
- Floors
- The café is on the 1st floor and the vinyl library is on the 2nd floor. The library may have an upper level reached by stairs, with Korean pop records (older information, so the layout may have changed). One travel guide says the way to the Rolling Stone collection was up stairs and past bookshelves.
- Toilets
- There is 1 accessible toilet near the ticket desk. It has an automatic door, grab bars, automatic flush, an emergency call bell and a baby holder.
- Listening seats
- One visitor wrote that you sit at a turntable and listen on a headset. The visitor also wrote that each seat has 2 headsets, so two people can listen together.
